Royal Meeting two year-old filly, Royal Majesty, became her sire’s second city winner, alongside Group 1 Blue Diamond victor Hayasugi, when taking out the 2 year-old 1100m contest at Morphetville yesterday.

Having her second start following a rather green debut in the Group 3 David Coles Stakes over 1200m through the Adelaide carnival, Royal Majesty benefitted from the race experience and drop down in distance to comfortably score by 2 lengths for trainer Chris Bieg and jockey Ben Price.

Bred by Wes Heritage and reared and sold by John Keneally’s Erinvale Thoroughbreds, Royal Majesty was a $65,000 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling graduate to owner Brentknoll Thoroughbreds. Erinvale’s Keneally, whose farm enjoyed a stellar weekend when fellow Erinvale product Roll On High won the Group 3 Fred Best Classic at Doomben, remember’s Royal Majesty well “She was a beautiful black filly. One of the nicest I’d seen by the stallion. She had his substance, quality and strength and blended beautifully with the Lonhro mare.”

Keneally was impressed by Royal Majesty’s win, though not surprised “She was all quality and had such a good brain. She always paraded well, had a brilliant attitude and held her action. They’re things that are going to take you a long way in training.”

Trainer Chris Bieg was delighted with Royal Majesty's performance and believes there is more to come. "She is a lovely filly, very straightforward, extremely intelligent and easy to train. At this stage I intend on running her in a few weeks time in a $120,000 race over 1200m in town, followed by a spell with a view to targeting black-type races with her in the Spring."

Royal Majesty’s win adds to her sire’s growing profile, with fellow Royal Meeting runner and coincidentally Erinvale product, the city-placed War Council lining up at Sandown this Wednesday in the Taj Rossi Series Heat over 1400m. Royal Meeting's 2 year-old crop are expected to further emerge as late season 2 year-old's with promising runners expected to present for Michael Freedman, Steve O'Dea & Matt Hoysted, John McArdle, Will Clarken, Travis Doudle to name only a few.

Following a Magic Millions week where the Royal Meeting Syndicate spent over $1,000,000 on mares to bolster his book for this season, Royal Majesty is a timely reminder of Royal Meeting’s talents, who alongside Too Darn Hot ($110,000 incl. GST) and Tassort ($38,500 incl. GST) is the only first season sire in Australia to have sired a Group 1 winner from their first crop.

At a fee of only $22,000 (incl. GST), the attractive and extremely fertile Royal Meeting is one to consider this season for the astute breeder looking to follow a stallion on the rise.
